The secondary clarifiers at the Asselbrunn wastewater treatment plant in the Odenwald have been optimised. At the same time, the return sludge control was changed so that the delivery capacity of the pumps is now regulated according to the sludge level in the secondary clarifiers. This leads to a significantly more stable settling behaviour even with mixed water inflow, a considerably lower return sludge volume overall and at the same time a reduction in filterable substances in the inflow.
