The 14 wastewater treatment plants and over 60 pumping stations in the Bitburg-Land municipality are managed by a dedicated team of 6 people. AQUA PROVI, the process control and telecontrol system, has considerably reduced the amount of work involved. To implement the project, AQUA PROVI was connected to various PLCs and all possible communication paths from the control centre to the substations were used.
The customer's top priority was the consistent standardisation of the entire software on all systems and a customer-oriented, largely centralised processing of the data from all substations.
At the wastewater treatment plants, the AQUA PROVI process control system connects to programmable logic controllers from the following manufacturers:
- Siemens S7
- Siemens S5
- SAE
- B&R
The telecontrol technology utilises substations from SAE and B&R.
The transmission routes are:
- Leased lines
- Telephone dialling lines
- ISDN connections
- GSM connections
The operator does not notice the many different makes and transmission paths. All operations and parameter settings are standardised for him via the process control system.
