More Clarity through secondary clarifier optimisation:
The secondary clarifiers at the Au wastewater treatment plant in the Hamm/Sieg municipality are reaching their limits with mixed water inflow. BITControl carries out the planning for the optimisation of the secondary clarifiers.
The design is not complicated, but the dimensioning must be right. Residence time and inlet depth, design of the inlet gap and ensuring horizontal inflow are the cornerstones for good functioning of the entire secondary clarifier.
Before the conversion, there were always clouds of sludge when mixed water flowed in, but now the sludge lies at the bottom like a stone. The improved filter effect due to the deep inlet also leads to lower concentrations of filterable substances.
Since calendar week 39 / 2024, both secondary clarifiers have been rebuilt and back in operation - with a clear improvement in separation performance.
