Optimisation of the secondary clarifier at Kaisersesch wastewater treatment plant

Partial renewal of the mechanical equipment

The Kaisersesch wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 5,500 PE is a mechanical biological wastewater treatment plant with simultaneous aerobic sludge stabilisation. The biological stage is designed as a combined tank.

The aim was to improve the discharge values by reducing the flow velocity. To this end, the geometry of the central structure was adapted, for example by adding a ring-shaped baffle with a base plate. Parts of the mechanical equipment were also replaced.

During the conversion work, the NKB was taken out of operation and the biology system was temporarily operated as an impoundment.
