A control value has been added to the calculation of the membrane area with the AQUA DESIGNER planning software, so that the calculation of the required membrane area is easier for the user to understand.
The following description can be found in the AQUA DESIGNER manual:
The flux is decisive for the required membrane surface area. Here, DWA M 227 from October 2014 recommends an average flux for the annual average of less than 10 L/(m2xh) in Chapter 11. An average flux of 5 - 6 L/(m3xh) is recommended. The design inflow Qm and the annual mean inflow Qt,aM must therefore be considered for the design.
The membrane technology and thus also the flux rate has of course developed further in the meantime (2021), so that for the dimensioning on the one hand the average flow rate should be checked, but on the other hand the current membrane properties should also be taken into account.
The technical discussion results in flux rates of 12 22 L/(m2xh) for 2021 in real applications. See also /68/ and /69/.
In AQUA DESIGNER, the design flux QBem is therefore queried first. This value is the highest inflow, i.e. the mixed water inflow Qm specified under "Load". For a separation system, Qm = Qt. This value must be selected according to the state of the art and may be higher than the values recommended in M 227. After "Calculate" has been executed, the resulting flux for the mean annual flow Qt,aM is checked. This value is displayed in the "Membrane result" results window.
In AQUA DESIGNER this is implemented as follows.
