On Friday afternoon, 4 July 2025, Managing Director Norbert Meyer took his employees on a fascinating journey through time to seven of the nine UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Trier. On a 5-kilometre walk through the historic city, the superlatives were one after the other.
The tour began at the oldest bridge in Germany, the impressive Roman Bridge. From there, we continued to the Barbara Baths, the largest Roman thermal bath complex north of the Alps. Passing the Imperial Baths, the route led to the largest ancient cantilevered room, the former audience hall of Emperor Constantine - today the Protestant Basilica of Constantine.
We took our first well-earned break in the Palastgarten, where a new colleague from the Saarland celebrated his debut with lyonnaise, mustard and fresh bread.
We then visited St Peter's Cathedral, the oldest church in Germany, and the neighbouring Church of Our Lady. The cloister of the cathedral was particularly fascinating, showing the architectural development from Roman to Romanesque to Gothic and Baroque styles.
We treated ourselves to another break with refreshing cold drinks on the cathedral square before heading to the two historic residential towers and finally to the Porta Nigra, the best-preserved Roman city gate north of the Alps and a symbol of Trier.
The day ended successfully with dinner together in a pizzeria. Afterwards, we rounded off the evening with a nightcap in the "Astarix" in a convivial atmosphere.
